Uveitis in which the inflammatory reaction of the eye structures manifests in response to infective agent such as bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses is termed as the Infectious uveitis.

Some viruses affect the anterior part of the eye but majority of infectious uveitis manifests in the posterior part of the eye ball namely Retina and choroid. The disease process can spread very fast and can cause very devastating vision loss. Treatment includes oral medications, Laser and implantation of steroid depot preparations into the eye. Some viral infections occur in immunocompromised individuals and hence high suspicion should be maintained to detect the disease early and start treatment.
