REFRACTIVE ERROR CORRECTION
The refractive errors can be corrected by prescribing glasses, contact lenses and corrective surgeries. There are certain advantages and disadvantages with each of these options and are best decided by the Consultant Ophthalmologist on an individual basis. In general, in school going children especially below 15 years, glasses are preferred. Surgeries are available for correction of refractive error as in very high power and as an option for those who want to get rid of glasses. There are certain pre-conditions that need to be fulfilled before the patient can undergo these procedures. The type of surgery is then decided on an individual basis by the surgeon.
